BBIS recently welcomed Dr Kendall Zoller, a US educational leadership consultant, communications, and behavioural specialist, who works with the Adaptive Schools programme on campus.
Thirty student ambassadors and student council members from Grades 5 to 12 attended a student leadership workshop. Dr Zoller delivered an energized, humorous and inspiring session. His training focused on empathy, rapport building and communication skills. He provided our students with a series of activities to help them with community rebuilding and renewal, as we continue to deal with the impact and repair of the COVID pandemic on our learning community.
Students reported that Dr Zoller was an excellent storyteller and role model for our student leaders, who will carry forward his message and through this experience, help further develop our community spirit and a deeper sense of belonging between us.
On 17 March 2022, 11th Graders attended a workshop about presentation skills, led by Kendall Zoller. In this workshop, we covered several techniques that make us more confident and convincing presenters, from stance to tone to breathing patterns. Not only did we learn which techniques to use, but we also looked into the somewhat psychological question of why exactly they work. Learning about the effectiveness of the techniques was intriguing, and it helped the techniques to really stick in our minds. Besides just learning these skills in theory, we also had a chance to see them put into practice in Dr Zoller’s own presentation. We look forward to practicing these presentation techniques ourselves, and thank Dr Zoller for this great experience. Saanvi, BBIS Student
