Yulia Akhmetova

My role at BBIS:

Primary School German Teacher and Home Languages Coordinator

When did you join BBIS?

August 2020

What is your background?

I come from the field of psychology and social pedagogy and completed my masters of education to teach German to kids and teenagers. I worked in two international schools and have an international background myself. I moved countries as a teenager and came from my home country, Russia, to Germany which I grew to call my second home country.

What inspires you in your professional role?

Having a multicultural background myself, I love working with international multilingual students, inspiring them and being inspired by them. I love that I am daily surrounded by students and educators who share the same experiences of being world-citizens as myself. I am lucky to contribute with my knowledge and experience, personal and professional, to the language teaching and learning in BBIS

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about learning and teaching languages. I speak four languages myself and love to investigate and learn how our brain works and see the evidence of what I learn from the theory in our multilingual students and colleagues.

What makes BBIS special?

The people make BBIS special. I feel like I am in a place where I can learn and grow as an educator just by talking to or watching my colleagues passionately do their job.
